Saskatchewan Portraits is an exhibition of works selected
from the Saskatchewan Arts Board Permanent Collection by the
curatorial staff of the Arts Board and the Organization of
Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) and toured to various communities
in Saskatchewan as part of OSAC's Art On The Move program.
OSAC is a non-profit organization of groups of volunteers
in 60 Saskatchewan towns and cities across the province. Its
mission is to integrate the visual arts and the performing
arts into the lives of Saskatchewan people by the development
of arts councils, audiences and artists, through education,
service, leadership and artistic excellence.

As a record of our physical appearance, portraiture seems
deceptively simple. It focuses on what can be seen and described
objectively. The lines in our face, the tilt of our chin,
the gaze of our eyes, perhaps even physical stature or clothing
might be described. Appearances are most important because
they are directly observed and objectively represented.
