About The Artist
Born in Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Elizabeth
MacKenzie received her art education from the Ontario College
of Art and the University of Saskatchewan, where she received
a Master of Fine Arts degree.
MacKenzie has focused on examining female identity in her
work, particularly as it is affected by the experience of
pregnancy. She is interested in exploring the uncertainties
associated with pregnancy. If theyre honest, most women
would admit pregnancy is not embraced with undiluted joy.
Along with excitement, hope, happiness, one grapples with
anxiety, worry and ambivalence about the irreversible changes
that will come with the new life.
