About The Artist

Born 1920 on a farm on the shores of Lake Winnipegosis, Manitoba, Molly Lenhardt resided in Melville, Saskatchewan as the owner and proprietor of the Fairway Confectionary.  Lenhardt was primarily self-taught in painting, although she did take at least one community college art class.

Focusing on Canadian heritage, especially women pioneers, landscapes and Ukrainian heritage, one of Lenhardt’s aims was to glorify those early settlers who built our country.  Her need to paint came from her need to record…it was a way to honour and preserve the memories of her Ukrainian forebearers and to dignify and recognize pioneer women, their work and their part in transmitting their culture and language.
