People attending this year’s fair in Saskatoon can experience Saskatchewan art, along with the usual offerings of corn dogs and gravity-defying rides. A new partnership between the Saskatchewan Arts Board and Prairieland Park brings two exciting initiatives to the Saskatoon EX from August 10 to 15, 2010.
Cherished Things is a dynamic exhibition that thoughtfully examines the relationship between traditional and contemporary Indigenous art practices in Saskatchewan. The exhibition, curated by Carmen Robertson and Sherry Farrell-Racette, brings together exquisitely crafted objects either produced through grants from the Arts Board or drawn from the Arts Board’s Permanent Collection.
Twilight Bison is an interactive installation, led by artist-in-residence Adrian Stimson, which will give visitors of all ages the opportunity to exercise their artistic skills, see a collaged herd of bison grow in a twilight landscape and participate in one of Saskatchewan’s contemporary Aboriginal art forms.
