New Dance Horizons and the Youth Ballet and Contemporary Dance of Saskatchewan (YBCS) are excited to present internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Margie Gillis who will be conducting two workshops at the YBCS studio January 30 & 31, 2012.

Gillis is the first modern dancer to receive the Order of Canada (1987) and has choreographed and performed more than 80 original pieces. She was the first modern dancer in the world to perform, teach and lecture in China after the cessation of the Cultural Revolution, and she has choreographed two solo shows for Cirque du Soleil’s critically-acclaimed Las Vegas production of The Beatles: LOVE.

On Monday January 30, Dance Saskatchewan (DSI) will be sponsoring an evening of dance at the YBCS studios (1106 McNiven Ave. Regina, SK). The evening will include a workshop for dance students and professionals from 6:30-8pm. This unique class is designed to deepen the dancers’ performance capabilities and hone their knowledge of the choreography process and possibilities. It will also touch on techniques that they can use in daily life.

Following the workshop there will be a short presentation by Dance Saskatchewan and a short performance by Margie Gillis, a question and answer period, and a meet and greet. To register for this free workshop please contact the YBCS at 306-352-9908. (Limited space available)
