Exhibit Information:

Lucy Fern is Denesuline First Nation born in Uranium City, Saskatchewan and raised in Fond Du Lac, Saskatchewan with nine other siblings.  Her father was a trapper and a hunter and her mother raised the children as they lived off the land.

Lucy is a recent graduate from First Nations University of Canada with Bachelor of Indian Social Work and minor in arts.  Lucy’s style is derived from First Nation’s perspective but is abstract in nature to depict her attraction to broader geometric forms, shapes, and contexts.  Her primary subject matter is people with a strong emphasis on cultural and spiritual components— deep spiritual and family values. The themes that run through her art work are gifts of sharing, family, humility, love, and friendship.

The impact of the final appearance of her art works “catches the eye” through the use of vibrant colors, sequence, beads, and sparkles.  Influenced by coastal and Inuit arts, Lucy uses art in a spiritual and prophetic way.  Her paintings tell stories at deeper levels of understanding such as discovery of one’s and other’s true selves and appreciation of nature.

The vision of Lucy’s first exhibit, Prophetic Treasure, is holistic healing and articulation of the authentic self through art.
