Jacky Georges Lafargue and Louis Couturier are collaborative installation artists from Montreal, who have worked together for 20 years. They write, What we do is founded on a principle of communication and exchange in which public space becomes the privileged place of our intervention.The projects speak to communities by introducing images, emotions, forms and questions related to identity. The question of whether or not it is art does not come into it in any immediate way. Our work affirms identities, is tinged with social realities and touches on politics. First visiting the community of Resolute in 2005, they were drawn to the incredible story of people who, as well as the extreme cold and darkness, have endured great hardship and government intervention in their lives. They found a community of people that have adapted and thrived. This exhibition is the result of their visits.
