The importance of the input and feedback of the community is a priority throughout the Arts Board's operations and is formalized within the Arts Board Act, 1997. Although officially appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, one-third of the members of the Board are chosen from a list of nominees provided by the arts community. This process assists in ensuring the Board is representative of the thoughts, ideas and directions of the community itself.

How can I get involved in the work being done by the Arts Board?

Given the community based approach of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, there are many ways you can get involved. The Arts Board has established advisory processes to obtain input on its policies and processes, and looks to the community it serves for expertise and advice on initiatives being undertaken.

The peer assessment process used by the Arts Board ensures grant decisions are based on the recommendation of people from our community with the skills and knowledge needed. They are designed so the Arts Board can maintain regular and direct contact with its community on the broadest issues affecting the arts in Saskatchewan.
