Wendy Peart
b. 1968, resides in Regina, SK

Peart’s work involves forms, images, and systems derived from the natural world because she finds biological/ecological subject matter to be magnificent and on a functional level, utterly impressive. "As visual imagery, I believe the organic form can incite basal, yet complex, reactions that arouse viewers to acknowledge their relationship within the intricate ecological world," writes Peart. Referring directly to the human body as a means to locate the viewer within their own flesh makes the work resonate in a fundamental and primal way. Peart’s work emphasizes the fragility and magic of our corporal existence as well as the responsibility that we have, as effectual humans, within the larger ecological pool.
